Letter from the editor of American Machinist to Taylor, mentioning his earlier phone conversation with the newly elected secretary, Mr. Rice, whose attitude was different than what Miller supposed it would be. Miller goes on to advise Taylor that Rice was questioning whether or not he would accept the new position, as he spoke of what great sacrifice it would be and that he would “have to consider the matter.” Miller stresses that if Rice decides not to accept, it would put the society in “rather a deep hole.”
