Princeton, Feb. 14, 1914
Dear Mr. Taylor,
As you will see, I am back in Princeton again after my years stay in Germany. We greatly enjoyed the Munich life, but I am glad to be at work again.
Nothing has as yet been done toward the strengthening of our Engineering Dept., but I am in hopes that an appointment to either a professorship of civil (structural) engineering or a professorship of steam engineering may be made for next year, and I should greatly appreciate any suggestions you may be willing to give me as to the best available men for such posts. It seems to me desirable that any man appointed should have had both teaching experience and important engineering practice. And I should like to find a man properly qualified to become sooner or later the head of the Engineering Dept.
With kind regards to Mrs. Taylor & yourself in which Mrs. Fine joins me,
Sincerely yours,
H.B. Fine
